About Us

The Charlotte Horror Fest is an annual horror and sci-fi film festival produced by Indie Film Force, Inc., a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization founded in 2005.

INDIE FILM FORCE

The mission of Indie Film Force is to provide our community with an extraordinary cultural experience through the production of various film events and to bring exposure to the cause, innovation, and uniqueness of vision of the filmmakers whose films we showcase.

The Charlotte Horror Fest is currently one of three festivals that IFF produces. The other two are the Charlotte Film Festival, which was first produced in 2006, and the Big Cause Film Fest, a documentary film festival scheduled to have its inaugural event in 2012.

CHARLOTTE HORROR FEST

Horror films are like pizza and chocolate. If you find someone who doesn’t like them, you’ve found a pretty weird and sad person. That’s our opinion, anyway, and we are sticking to it.

On a more serious note, we understand that, although extremely popular, the genres of Horror and Sci-Fi are often not taken seriously by the industry. This results in fine productions having a hard time finding theater screenings and fans being limited to a less-than-cinematic viewing experience.

The mission of the Charlotte Horror Fest is to bring filmmakers and film fans together for a celebration of the Horror and Sci-Fi genres. To create an event where the films can receive a quality projection that is on par with the dedication and perseverance that went into making them and fans can experience the works the way the filmmakers envisioned it. Along the way, we hope that fans will feel at home enough to jump in and participate in whatever creative way feels right, so that the recipe will be complete and we’ll be able to fulfill what is the ultimate goal of the festival: to create and celebrate community.
